Preparing for your Appointment

How you can prepare for your tutoring session:

• Print out a copy of your paper or draft.
• Bring your professor's assignment instructions.
• Come with a purpose for your visit.
• Arrive 5 minutes early so you can sign-in with your UIN.

What we do at the TCC:

• Provide one-on-one writing instruction.
• Discuss new assignments with you, helping to clarify and organize your ideas.
• Read a draft of what you have written offering suggestions for revision.
• Help you expand and develop a  paper.
• Assist you with matters of style and correctness.
• Explain specific rules of usage.
• Answer questions about research and documentation of sources.
• Help you gain new strategies for writing and increased confidence in yourself as a writer.

What we do not do at the TCC:

• Edit or proofread what you have written for you.
• Guarantee a particular grade or even suggest what grade you are likely to receive on an assignment.
• Read multiple assignments or extremely long assignments in a single conference.
